At Spreadconnect, we offer a wide range of products for your print-on-demand business. While most of our catalog items are stocked in our own warehouse, some are classified as "on demand products." This article explains what that means and how it affects order fulfillment.
What does "on demand" mean?
"On demand products" are items that are not held in our warehouse. Instead, when one of these products is ordered by your customer, we automatically trigger a supplier order for that specific product. Once it arrives at our warehouse, we then proceed with the usual printing and shipping process.
How does this affect production time?
Since these products are not readily available in our warehouse, the overall production time is longer:
Warehouse products: Typically produced within 1–2 business days
On demand products: Require 3–6 business days to produce, because we first need to receive them from the supplier. This can vary from supplier to supplier.
You'll see this reflected in the product catalog:
On demand products are marked with a small timer icon and a note showing the expected production time.
What happens when an order includes both on demand and warehouse products?
If an order includes both product types, it may be split during production:
Warehouse items are produced right away.
On demand items start production once delivered from the supplier.
As a result, the order may be shipped in two parts. No extra cost will apply for you such as shipping costs—our system handles everything automatically.
